Scenic Vistas & History at Perry Monument, Put-in-bay

A beacon of peace in Lake Erie, no visit is complete without taking in the sweeping international vista from the deck atop this 352-foot memorial, just 5 miles from the Canadian border. Dedicated to those who fought in the pivotal  Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812, nothing puts the significance one battle can have  into perspective like Perry Monument. Put-in-Bay was a crucial battleground, but today it symbolizes peace, with British and American remains interred in the memorial.

In addition to trips to the open-air deck at the top of the memorial, there is also an informative Visitor's Center, with historic reenactments and hourly musket firings on weekends.
  • During what season is the memorial open?

Perry Monument is mostly a summer attraction, with both the Visitor's Center and memorial open mid-May through early October (May 17th through October 4th, 2014).
