There’s no better way to explore the islands of Lake Erie than by kayak. Consistently voted the best rentals in the area, you can chart your own adventure, or schedule a tour with their knowledgeable guides.
See the lake the way it’s meant to be seen – from the water! Every sight is all the more impressive when you kayak Put-in-Bay and the islands of Lake Erie, from towering Perry’s Monument to the limestone cliffs of Gibraltar. Kayak the Bay is regularly recognized by the likes of National Geographic and The New York Times for their incredible service, experience, and quality rentals. If you’d rather have a guide, they also offer a selection of guided rides, like the nighttime “Dark Side of the Island” tour.
Memorial Day through August 31st, sit-inside and sit-on-top kayak rentals are available from 10am until dark. In September, rentals start at 12 noon, but 10am on weekends. Two-hour rentals cost $20 for a single kayak, $40 for a double. If you want the kayak longer, that’s no problem! Single kayaks are $10 for the third hour, and $5 for the fourth. Doubles are $10 for both the third and fourth hours.
What tours do they offer?
Guided Kayak the Bay tours change often, but right now they offer a “Dark Side of the Island” night ride, in which the guide directs kayakers past beautifully lit Perry’s Monument and the cliffs of Gibraltar Island. Headlamps are provided so you can peek in the water, too!
